First thing I would like to address is, just because you have your wedding in your backyard doesn't mean it can't be beautiful!
Alright now that we got that statement out of the way let's get in to why backyard weddings are the way to go in 2024.

Make Your Wedding Personal
Think about it, if you choose to hold your wedding in your back yard you get more time to really add all your personal touch's where as some venues have strict regulations on what you can and can't bring. Do you want a confetti sendoff? Some venues will not let you have confetti, sparkler's, candles, fireworks, or smoke bombs on the properties. Mostly for insurance reasons and that's understandable, however if you are wanting some fun sparkler photo's you can very well do this in your driveway and have a bucket or two for guest's to dispose of them once it's over.
Simplicity
Your wedding day will be fun and memorable but that doesn't mean the months of planning will be any less stressful! You will have to go around venue to venue discussing pricing for tables, chairs, dining ware, centerpieces, arch rental, clean up fee, kitchen fee, and all other kinds of add-ons. Not to mention that some venues have a list of approved vendors that they only use for all events held on their property. But the end of the day you are going to feel like everywhere you go people are just shoving price lists in your face. (It's kind of their job as a venue to do that tho) Then after you pick your venue you have deposits and payment deadlines to make along with all the other wedding related deposits and payment schedules you have to keep up with. Only adding more stress to the top of the pile.
No Time Restrictions
You'll notice a very similar trend with a lot of today's wedding venues, no early access. Basically most venues will not let you in to setup or decorate till the day OF your wedding, which could be 10 am or 3pm depending on when your ceremony is scheduled for. However, if your venue allows the option to come a day before your wedding you will have to pay to rent the venue for whatever time you want to start decorating, some venues will give you a half day option others will make you rent the whole day. I understand their reason for it, but I also know how much stress that adds to the whole wedding party trying to set everything up just hours before you say "I Do". All venue's have a time limit as to how long you can book for a full wedding day which also include a timeframe as to when you need to have everything cleaned and guest sent home. So for my couples here who want to party till one in the morning finding a venue may be difficult.
It Will Cost Less
Wedding venues can range anywhere between 3'000-11'000 depending on what packages and add-ons you want. But the average is about 6'000 for the venue. Keep in mind this is not just renting the venue it's self but tables and chairs along with the use of the property. Another thing to keep in mind is venues are having to rase pricing do to supply and demand-- more couples are booking weddings for 2025 and later. Due to this year's dip in wedding bookings couples will see a major affect on the wedding industry as a whole.
