Spring Hollow Maternity Photographer

I was blessed with capturing Sierra's FIRST maternity session this past June. When talking to her regarding where she'd like to set up her session she told me she LOVES the woods and water. So, the first place that came to mind here in Logan was or course Spring Hollow!

Now one thing you have to keep in mind when setting up your maternity session is the typical timeline that momma's have during their 9 months of waiting for baby. The best time to shoot this session is when your baby bump is nice and full. But for most first-time momma's they don't show as much as with other pregnancies. For some people it's different but for most of the mom's I have spoken with they feel they didn't fully round out till week 34-36. Which is fine there's nothing wrong with that. The best time to set your maturity session is dependent on you as a person. If you are a high-risk momma, then you are wanting to schedule that session around the second trimester. If you are wanting to do an announcement and order printed photo's you want to shoot for 27-28 weeks. for most mother's the ideal timeframe is the 7–8-month timeline.

Sierra was about 31 weeks when we shot her maternity photos, so we didn't want to do a lot of walking being we were in the Logan Canyon just past the cell signal cut off. Luckly the location she was wanting for her beautiful photo's had tons of beautiful places for photo's not too far from the parking area.

For those who haven't been to Spring Hollow it is a nice campground that follows up the crimson trail and spring hollow trail just a mile down from 3rd dam. At the beginning of the campgrounds off the left of the parking area you will find the end of the cold river that leads to a little creek area where you can swim and fish. It is very cold and very rocky so bring towels and water safe shoes.

During Sierra's maternity session we actually saved the photos in the water till the end and it being the end of June it was hot out. So, we left the towels in the vehicles to really keep them warm for when it was time to jump in.

The other locations Sierra and Mason wanted to shoot at where right before you got to the campsites to the left of the parking area and in front of the trail that takes you down to the water. With all the snow melting from the mountain tops the river that feeds into the creek is overflowing to the point it covers the road. This is where we did some photos with the little water fall in the background and tree's surrounding her. Be careful on this cobblestone like road, it is very slick when the river runs over it.

Before bringing Sierra and Mason to Springs Hollow for their maternity photo's I did make the drive out into Logan Canyon myself about a week before hand to hike around and scout out the perfect spots that wouldn't be a far walk from the vehicles or take us deep into the wilderness. There had just been a cub sighting a week before heading out so I wanted to make sure we wouldn't disturb any of the wildlife during our time on the trails.

This was my first time doing photographing a maternity session in Springs Hollow and let me tell you it did not disappoint! Being a maternity photographer in Northern Utah I get to take my clients and their families out to beautiful landscapes that are draped with mountain backgrounds, flowing with rivers and lakes, or even iced over in a blanket of snow! However, Logan Canyon holds a special place in the hearts of the people who live here in Cache Valley. Sierra got to tell me about one of the many camping trips her family take up in Springs Hollow every year. So, it's no wonder she looked so at home during her session!

Thank you for making it this far! I would love to help you capture your next big adventure! Either that be celebrating your wedding, a birth, your family, or even just for fun! Click the CONACT link to get in touch!
